Connecting Linear lets you act on audit findings without leaving your existing engineering workflow. Once connected, you can push any finding from the Gaps & Edge Cases tab directly to your Linear workspace — either as a single issue for a specific finding, or as a parent issue with sub-issues grouping all related findings from the audit. Rationale pre-fills team, assignee, and labels so the issues land in the right place with the right context.

What the Linear integration does

Push a single finding

Select one gap or edge case and create a single Linear issue scoped to that finding. Use this for one-off issues you want to track immediately.

Bundle the full audit

Push the entire audit as a parent issue plus sub-issues — one sub-issue per gap and uncovered edge case. Related findings stay grouped under one parent in Linear.

Pre-filled fields

Each push pre-fills the team, assignee, and labels. Rationale labels issues with the audit category — missing state, logic gap, edge case, or accessibility — and a version tag.

Re-sync on demand

Push the same audit again after changes and Rationale creates new sub-issues, updates existing ones, and resolves any that are no longer flagged.

What each Linear issue contains

Every issue Rationale creates includes:
  • The relevant screen name
  • The category of finding (missing requirement, logic gap, edge case, or accessibility)
  • The exact finding text from the audit
  • A reference back to the Rationale project and version it came from

How to connect

1

Open Settings

Click Settings in the left sidebar.
2

Go to Connections

Select Connections from the settings menu.
3

Open the Linear connector

Click the Linear card.
4

Add the connector

Click Add connector. A Linear OAuth window opens.
5

Authorize your workspace

Sign in to Linear and authorize Rationale. The window closes automatically once the connection succeeds.

How to push findings to Linear

1

Open a project with a completed audit

Open any project that has audit results. Go to the Gaps & Edge Cases tab.
2

Push a single finding or the full audit

To push a single finding, click the push icon next to any individual gap or edge case. To push the full audit, use the Push to Linear button at the top of the tab.
3

Set team, assignee, and cycle

In the push modal, choose the Linear team. Optionally select a project, cycle, and default assignee. You can also assign per screen if you want different owners for different areas.
4

Confirm the push

Click Push to Linear (or Create Linear issue for a single finding). Rationale creates the issues and shows you links to the new issues in Linear.
If your team rotates ownership by screen, expand Assign per screen in the push modal to set a different assignee for each screen’s findings.
If you push the same audit more than once, Rationale re-syncs rather than duplicating. Findings already in Linear are updated, and findings no longer flagged by Rationale are marked as resolved.
